Joliet, IL – Education and Community Outreach Manager

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Under general supervision, formulates and directs Will County Animal Protection Services (WCAPS) humane education, special events and marketing programs to ensure the fulfillment of the organization’s mission. Develops and delivers educational programs and awareness campaigns regarding humane animal care, public health and safety related to animals and responsible pet ownership for diverse audiences, including schools, businesses, and community groups. Provides oversight of events and humane education volunteers and interns as well as WCAPS operations and engagement within the community. Key responsibilities include managing partnerships, ensuring humane education and pet supportive resources are accessible to all, and overseeing social media content. The role also requires tracking outreach efforts, evaluating program effectiveness, and maintaining records of activities and contacts. Will model humane treatment of animals and excellent customer service.  Assists the management team in ongoing development and success of WCAPS internally and in the community. Regular attendance, including evenings and weekends, is essential, along with other duties as assigned. Reports to the Department Administrator.

Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Sciences, Education, Communications, Marketing or a closely related field is required. And/or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.  Minimum of (3) three years of experience in public programing, education, event management and outreach to a wide variety of audiences required. Minimum 1 year supervisory/managerial experience required. Upon interview, must successfully complete a PowerPoint and Flyer assessment. Previous animal sheltering or animal protection services experience preferred. Valid State of Illinois Driver’s License required and proof of minimal liability insurance required by law. Must maintain a satisfactory driving record throughout employment.
