JOB CLASSIFICATION: Information Technology Support Technician

JOB LEVEL: Union

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting the IT Director in supporting the office computer network system by training personnel regardless of technical ability on the use of computer systems and applications, assisting personnel with computer problems, troubleshooting hardware and software problems, performing quality control checks and performing other duties relating to the maintenance of computers and technical procedures; other duties as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Creating, editing, capturing, redacting and duplicating video and audio.  Assisting attorneys with presentations for courtroom proceedings. Assisting non-attorney professional staff with presentations for various other meetings and conferences. Providing support for mobile phones (Droids and smart phones), cameras, projectors, smart boards and video equipment. Maintaining, analyzing, documenting, troubleshooting and repairing computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals. Installing and configuring new and specialized personal computer systems. Reviewing, monitoring and upgrading existing personal computer systems on all State’s Attorney’s Office workstations throughout various locations. Identifying, resolving and documenting technical problems related to computer hardware and software. Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information obtained through the execution of regular duties. Maintaining an accurate inventory of all computer hardware and software within the State’s Attorney’s Office. Performing other duties in support of the department as assigned.

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and ability to perform the essential functions of this position:

·         Communication Skills: Must be able to write and communicate effectively with end-users, IT staff, and third-party vendors in resolving issues and enhancements to informational systems. Ability to follow directions

·         Interpersonal Communication Skills: Must be able to write and communicate effectively with end-users, IT staff, management staff, members of law enforcement and others as it relates to the work projects and tasks.

·         Problem Solving: Must have excellent problem-solving skills and be capable of breaking down complex situations to discover and resolve root causes as applied to software and process issues without the intervention of supervision.

·         Time Management: Must be able to plan and organize tasks, multi-task and meet deadlines with individual job assignments.

·         Quality Control: Must be able to prepare oral and written reports for internal office use and help assist in maintaining inventory tracking.

·         Adaptability Skills: Must have the ability to work flexible hours which could include after hours and weekends where necessary as we well as adapt to changes in the work environment when and where necessary during times of outages, upgrades and specific trial work projects as well as the ability to perform job functions during stressful and critical situations.

·         Database: Must have a working knowledge of the following databases as well as maintenance and troubleshooting skills as it relates to them: Access, JSON, SQL, Crystal Report Writer, VB and all Microsoft Office Suite products are required.

·         Hardware: Must understand PC hardware and the aptitude to perform repairs effectively.

·         Multimedia: Must have operational knowledge of a wide range of various types of multimedia (video/audio) creating and editing various media and other programs.

·         Travel:  Must be able to physically visit additional SAO locations to provide technical support to Staff.

·         Background: Must be able to pass a background check.

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

·         Associate’s degree in a computer related field or equivalent experience.

·         Must have working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office Suite application.  Experience working with computer hardware and a general working knowledge of computer software.

·         Additional certifications are preferred.

 

STARTING SALARY:
