SALARY RANGE: $ 35.97 – $50.34/Hour

*Starting salary is dependent upon qualifications, but in most cases is no higher than the midpoint for range.

 

This position is budgeted to work on average 18.75 hours per week.

 

NATURE OF WORK:

The Graphic Design and Video Production Specialist produces high-quality content for various platforms, including social media, websites, and digital display monitors. This role requires a strong understanding of video production, editing, and storytelling, along with a passion for creating engaging, visually appealing content.

 

This position demands creativity, technical prowess, and strategic acumen to produce engaging multimedia content that aligns with the City’s brand and meets communication objectives. The ideal candidate will have a background in graphic design and various digital media formats, and the ability to create engaging visual content for digital platforms such as websites, videos, and social media, including graphics, animations, and interactive elements.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Specific assignment will include some or all of the following):

●        Manages and executes digital content display and video projects from start to finish, working closely with department directors and managers.

●        Collaborates with internal teams to develop video content that aligns with the City’s objectives, goals, and brand guidelines.

●        Shoots high-quality video footage in various settings as needed, including occasional on-site shoots and in-studio productions.

●        Edits video footage using industry-standard software (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, CapCut) to create compelling and visually appealing video content.

●        Incorporates motion graphics, visual effects, and sound design to enhance video content.

●        Optimizes videos for various platforms, including social media, websites, and video-sharing platforms.

●        Attends internal and external City-sponsored or City-supported events.

●        Collaborates with internal team members to ensure cohesive and effective marketing campaigns.

●        Stays up to date with the latest video trends, technologies, and best practices.

●        Plans and coordinates video and graphic design content.

●        Conceptualizes and creates compelling designs for digital and print media

●        Designs graphics, animations, and interactive elements for social media and websites

●        Produces video content, including editing, motion graphics, and special effects

●        Designs marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, and presentations

●        Collaborates internally and with City staff to conceptualize and execute creative solutions that can be translated across various media platforms (digital/interactive, presentations, & print).

●        Stays current with design trends and emerging technologies in multimedia

●        Designs original pieces that meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards.

●        Ensure that all final products consistently align with branding and messaging.

●        Performs other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:

●        Must possess an associate’s degree or higher in a graphic design or video production related field, and three (3) or more years of professional graphic design experience.

●        Must possess two (2) or more years of experience supporting video content and digital display advertising initiatives,

●        Relevant work experience in a government setting is preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
●        Strong proficiency and ability to use Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.

●        Strong working knowledge and proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva or CapCut.

●        Demonstrable understanding of video editing principles and sound.

●        Experience with motion graphics and visual effects software.

●        Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

●        Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:

 

The employee works in a primarily sedentary position, with the occasional need to use force to exert up to 25 pounds to lift, carry or otherwise move objects, books, materials, etc.

 

The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions and protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from indoor temperature changes. The employee moves between worksites in different locations and to other locations in order to conduct portions of the position.

 

There are no environmental hazards associated with this classification

 

SUPERVISION:

Work is performed under the general direction of the Communications Manager.  The employee works independently within the overall framework, directions, and policies set by the Communications Manager and Deputy City Manager. Performance is reviewed through observation, completion of daily and assigned tasks, and communication with the communications manager. Work is formally evaluated at least annually, with respect to skills, achievement of goals and objectives, problem-solving ability, analytical skills, communication skills, and performance in accordance with this classification standard.
