Will County - Animal Protection Services
DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS: Under general supervision, the part-time Animal Placement Coordinator performs work of moderate complexity in tracking, coordinating, and promoting animal placements and outcomes for Will County Animal Protection Services (WCAPS). This position supports the department’s mission to ensure every animal receives the best possible outcome through adoption, transfer, or specialized placement programs. The part-time Animal Placement Coordinator proactively builds and maintains positive relationships with transfer partners, humane societies, foster-based organizations, and veterinary hospitals to expand placement opportunities and minimize animals’ length of stay. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date outcome records across all placement programs—including adoptions, transfers, returns, and special placement initiatives—to ensure reliable data reporting and effective program evaluation. Reports directly to the department Operations Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma required. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Three (3) years of municipal or private animal shelter or animal welfare experience, working hands-on with shelter animals required. Municipal or open admission animal shelter experience preferred. One (1) of experience with computers and Microsoft Office Suite or similar software preferred. Excellent customer services skills. Must pass a physical evaluation and lifting test up to 50 pounds prior to employment. The schedule for the position is Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-12:30PM. This schedule is subject to change.
