City of Rolling Meadows

The City of Rolling Meadows is seeking two (2) Public Works seasonal maintenance interns within the Public Works Department in 2026, generally between March and November. Positions are available in the Streets and Operations and Underground Utilities and Water divisions. Applicants must be 18 years or older, be able to read and write at a 12th-grade level, have a valid State of Illinois Driver’s License, and be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.

Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Positions assist with a wide range of responsibilities that generally include both inside and outside work in the community, answering requests for service, interoffice mail distribution, assistance with community event set up and take down, and data collection using GIS technology. More specific examples of responsibilities in each division are as follows:

1. Streets and Operations. Assists with street and pothole maintenance, landscape maintenance, sign installation, and tree maintenance and removal.
2. Underground Utilities and Water.  Assists with installation and repair of underground water, storm and sanitary utilities, fire hydrant flushing, water meter installations and assisting with water production and distribution functions.

These positions require open and honest communication, teamwork, as well as a desire for professional growth and development.

Salary is $15.00 – $21.73 per hour / D.O.Q.
