City of Wood Dale

The City of Wood Dale is seeking a part-time Code Enforcement Inspector. This is a highly visible and responsible position within the Community Development Department. This position is responsible for all functions related to code enforcement activities and code case tracking. Other duties include inspection scheduling, rental housing inspections, records management and the posting of stop work orders. The position also performs diverse administrative and support activities as needed. Work often involves extensive public contact and effective coordination with contractors, business owners, residents and other City departments and staff.

A high school diploma is required, and some relevant post high school education is preferred. This position requires a minimum of three (3) years of responsible code enforcement experience and the ability to learn the City of Wood Dale municipal code. The International Code Council (ICC) Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector certification is required, and preference will be given to those applicants who have already obtained this certification. The successful applicant who does not have this ICC certification is required to successfully obtain the certification within eight (8) months of appointment.

The successful applicant must also be self-motivated; possess excellent communication and customer service skills; have working knowledge of computer operations and Microsoft Office suite; and have the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. A valid State of Illinois driver’s license and safe driving record are required.

Schedule: 20 hours per work.

The current starting salary is $33.81/Per Hour

Position is part of a collective bargaining unit and will be subjected to a negotiated labor contract.
