Village of Morton Grove

The Village of Morton Grove is seeking a skilled and dependable Pumping Station Supervisor to join our Public Works team. This full-time position involves leading the technical, infrastructure maintenance and supervisory operations at the Village water treatment facilities and pumping stations.

The Village is interested in candidates with previous hands-on experience in supervising operations of water treatment facilities,  pump stations and complex watermain networks.  The candidate must have a strong understanding of safety procedures, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will be committed to public service, ability to operate across multiple disciplines within a public works organization and capable of responding to emergencies when needed.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Work involves responsibility for setting and maintaining water quality goals, implementing and monitoring daily operations.
  • Plans, schedules and directs pump station personnel.
  • Interaction with residents, commercial property owners/managers and village officials.
  • Prepares and files required reports submitted to local, state and federal agencies and staff.
  • Conducts daily inspections of pumps, motors, elevated tanks, reservoirs and security systems.
  • Ensure operational compliance with all State and Federal EPA standards.
  • Ability to support watermain repair operations and maintenance of water network valve vaults, fire hydrant and appurtenances.
  • Supervises sample collection and analysis.
  • Directs the adjustment of treatment methods to improve plant efficiency.

Must have five years’ experience in water supply and distribution systems; possess an EPA State of Illinois Water Class C Operator’s License or equivalent. .
Able to operate or learn to operate, cars, trucks, 1-4 ton dump trucks, 4-6 wheel dump trucks, front end loaders, backhoes, sewer jet truck, air compressors, jack hammers, sewer pumps, chain saws, hydraulic shoring equipment, gas detectors, all carpentry tools, all plumbing tools, shovels, sledge hammers, picks, rakes, axes, pruning tools, lawn mowers, and blower packs, water pumps, self-contained breathing apparatus, computer leak truck, portable diesel generator, chlorinators, accessories.
Able read and use maps, water sewer atlases, technical manuals, draft plans, purchase orders, maintenance logs, and mileage logs.
Administer programs and maintain records for the IEPA MS4 NPDES Storm Water Program.

Salary Range: $83,049.00 to $107,433.00 annually
