Village of Bloomingdale

The Village of Bloomingdale is seeking qualified candidates for the part-time position of Police Aide. This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to promote and maintain a positive Village image and constructive working environment, and to foster pride and professionalism in the workplace and community. The position reports to the Administrative Deputy Chief of Police.

The starting pay rate for this position is $23.21 per hour (pay range of $23.21 to $33.92 per hour). The shift hours in need of coverage are Friday evening 11:00 p.m. until Saturday morning 7:00 a.m., and Saturday evening 11:00 p.m. until Sunday morning 7:00 a.m. Additional unscheduled hours may arise on an as-needed basis. Includes holidays.

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Responds to incoming requests or complaints for service or information from the public or Village employees and handles according to set procedures or directs to the appropriate resources.
• Monitors the surveillance/booking room cameras and alarm systems.
• Monitors radio communications; relays emergency calls or calls requiring immediate action to the Addison Consolidated Dispatch Center.
• Operates LEADS terminal to enter, modify, update, and retrieve data.
• Performs periodic jailer and matron duties; conducts periodic prisoner checks.
• Makes emergency call-out notifications to Public Works and other personnel.
• Acts as notary public as required.
• Provides assistance with community-related programs.

The successful candidate must be LEADS certified or possess the ability to become LEADS certified within the probationary period. Training will be provided. High school diploma or equivalent is also required. Knowledge and experience in municipal police communications work is preferred.
