Antrim County, MI is looking for its next outstanding, experienced County Administrator. Antrim County, with over 25 miles of Lake Michigan frontage and dozens of beautiful inland lakes is also home to the pristine Torch Lake. With an abundance of hiking, hunting, boating, cycling, skiing, and snowmobiling, residents have year-round opportunities to enjoy nature. While the year-round population for Antrim County is 23,431, the County nearly doubles in size with its summer and tourism population. The County, which spans approximately 602 square miles, operates on a $15.5 million general fund budget with 173 employees.

Summary of Position:

The County Administrator is appointed by the Board of Commissioners to assist the Board in the development and implementation of goals, policies, and procedures, to supervise all functions that report to the Board of Commissioners, and to generally oversee the daily activities of the County. Working closely with the Finance Director, the County Administrator assists the Board with the development of the annual budget. The County Administrator and support staff provide professional support, project management, and are responsible for the communication of Board-generated information to County employees, elected officials, the public and outside agencies. This position is responsible for supervision of appointed department heads, serves as liaison between other agencies and the Board of Commissioner, and also functions as the FOIA Coordinator and County Planner.


Desired qualifications include a degree from an accredited four-year college or university (Master degree preferred) with substantial course work in public or business administration, municipal finance, personnel management, policy analysis, and political science. The candidate will possess at least five years of progressively more responsible administrative experience in county government or other public entity involving budget preparation, technical report writing, personnel administration, contract negotiations, public speaking, policy development, board relations, and organizational management.

The County offers a competitive benefit package and a salary range set at $90,000 to $116,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
