Bensalem, PA – Fire Chief

THE FIRE CHIEF POSITION
Bensalem Township, Bucks County, PA is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Fire Chief. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with superior interpersonal communication skills and an extensive background in fire services. Also critical to this position is the ability to collaborate and build relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, especially residents, the business community, and local volunteer firefighters.
The Chief of the Fire Department will be responsible for the organization, operation, and oversight of career and volunteer fire services. The Chief is also responsible for managing the delivery of fire inspection and prevention services.
The Chief of the Fire Department reports to the Director of Public Safety. This newly created position will lead the effort to continue the transition of the fire services in Bensalem Township into a combined fire service organization.

EXPERIENCE
· A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a career fire department with experience in a combination or volunteer fire department preferred.
· Five (5) years of service shall have been in a supervisory capacity as a battalion chief, or higher level, preferably as a Chief in a career fire department.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
o Minimum Firefighter 2 (Pro Board Certification/IFSAC)
o Fire Officer Certification (Pro Board Certification/IFSAC)
o Executive Fire Officer or Managing Officer (NFA) (preferred)
o National Incident Management System (NMS) 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800
o Hazardous Materials Technician Level (Pro Board Certification/IFSAC)
o Incident Safety Officer Certification (Pro Board Certification/IFSAC)
o Certified Health and Safety Officer (Pro Board Certification/IFSAC)
o Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Higher
o Fire Inspector Certification (preferred)
o Commercial Building Inspector (preferred)
o Plan Examiner (preferred)

EDUCATION
High School Diploma
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Fire Science, or related field, equivalent or higher preferred.

POSITION DETAILS
Township employees receive generous benefits and retirement packages. The Fire Chief is a salaried position at $120,000 plus per year based on resume and experience.
The incumbent will be required to live within twelve (12) miles of the Township border within 15 months of the date of hire.
