The City of Aurora is seeking qualified applicants for the position of City Fiber Network Manager in the IT Department.

Under direction of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), The City Fiber Network Manager is responsible for supporting the day‑to‑day operational needs of the City’s fiber infrastructure and assisting with network‑related activities across City departments.

The duties of this position include but are not limited to: Manage and maintain the City’s 60‑mile fiber optic ring and associated lateral connections; Develop and implement the City’s long‑term strategic fiber plan; Lead troubleshooting and resolution of fiber‑related issues such as breaks, signal loss, or environmental impacts; Coordinate fiber maintenance activities with contractors, utilities, government organizations, vendors, and City departments; Work with CIO and City leadership to identify opportunities for fiber expansion and potential monetization strategies; Support ongoing operations of the City’s networking systems, including switches, routers, wireless systems, and related infrastructure; Support with network performance monitoring, capacity review, and issue identification; Help maintain secure network operations under the guidance of the CIO, CISO, and senior technical staff; Oversee and provide direction to staff directly involved with the fiber network; Other related duties as assigned.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with course work in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field. This position also requires at least five (5) years of professional experience in fiber, networking, telecom, or related information technology fields.

Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to a physical, drug screen, and background check.

This is a full-time, executive position. The salary range is $114,088.00 – $153,379.20 with starting rate dependent on experience and qualifications, but in most cases is no higher than the midpoint of the range.
