The City of Aurora is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Confidential Secretary in the Community Services Department.

Under general supervision, the Confidential Secretary in the Community Services Department independently performs administrative duties to provide support at the departmental level. The Community Services Department performs a variety of functions including but not limited to grant writing and administration, youth services, senior and disability services, community development, innovation and strategy, public art, and Grand Army of the Republic Museum.

The duties of this position include but are not limited to: Perform all functions in operation of an office; Act as receptionist, receiving visitors and screening callers and email correspondence; Provide general information in response to internal and external inquiries; Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail; Assist with administration of staff payroll; Set up and maintain a complete filing system; Compose a variety of correspondence, interoffice forms, agendas, purchase or­ders; Prepare requisitions for the purchase of supplies and equipment; Provide technical support and assistance; Assist Grant Writer with grant administrative and processing tasks; Other duties as assigned.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED.  This position also requires a minimum of two (2) years’ progressively responsible clerical or secretarial experience. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to a physical, drug screen, and background check.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Starting hourly pay is $24.05/hr, depending on experience and qualifications.
