The City of Aurora is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Engineering Technician II in the Engineering Division.
The Engineering Technician II performs skilled para-professional engineering support work with an emphasis on surveying and drafting.
The duties of the position include but are not limited to: Lead a field surveying crew, locating control points, setting baselines, locating offset stakes and identifying cuts and fills on stakes for storm and sanitary sewers, curbs and gutters, roadways and ditches; Perform complex drafting assignments; Assist in the development and maintenance of traffic control projects by conducting traffic counts, obtaining traffic count maps, and ordering street and traffic control signs; Determine ownership for annexation of properties through record searches and analysis of legal descriptions; Compute estimates of assigned projects and routine costs analysis of work; Maintain technical reference library and field equipment/supplies; Respond to public complaints and inquires; Supervise summer employees and subordinate technicians; Other duties as assigned.
This position requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. supplemented by additional coursework in mathematics, drafting, physical science, and field survey work. Must possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License.
Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to a physical exam, drug screen, and background check.
This is a full-time, union position. The pay range is $32.92/hr. to $43.06/hr. Beginning hourly wage is $32.92/hour, after 6 months $33.67/hour, after 1 year $34.38/hour with annual increases thereafter in accordance with the Labor Agreement.
