Aurora, IL – Project Assistant – Innovation

The City of Aurora is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Project Assistant in the Division of Innovation within the Community Services Department.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Innovation and Strategy, the Project Assistant will support the planning, implementation, and coordination of special projects aligned with the organization’s mission and support the organization’s goals. The duties of this position include but are not limited to: Assist in the development of strategically relevant cross-functional initiatives; Research and analyze relevant industry trends, challenges, unmet needs, etc.; Identify, evaluate, and introduce new technologies and innovative methods and techniques; Partner with community organizations, agencies, and stakeholders to consolidate resources and enhance project outcomes; Create and maintain complex spreadsheets, databases, reports, etc.; Assist with administrative support of the Division programs, services, and initiatives; Other duties as assigned.

This position requires a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in innovation-related work in public service, higher education, community development, and/or business development. Customer service and fast-paced office experience is preferred.

Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to a physical, drug screen, and background check.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Starting hourly pay is $25.93/hr, depending on experience and qualifications.
