The City of Aurora is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Purchasing Specialist in the Division of Purchasing within the Finance Department.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Purchasing, the Purchasing Specialist will perform complex purchasing communications and clerical duties. The duties of this position include but are not limited to: Prepare, advertise, and track bids proposals; Assist with the planning, organization, coordination, and operation of bid openings; Work with other departments to ensure compliance; Conduct research for and drafts resolutions, ordinances, and correspondence; Assist with clerical/accounting functions related to the division’s cashiering operations and daily purchasing process; Function as liaison between the Purchasing division and other City department heads, employees, and the public; Respond to public inquiries; Research and evaluate information as requested; Utilize various computer software programs for analysis of various projects and preparation of reports; Provide general administrative support to management staff; Other duties as assigned.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED; Associates degree or two (2) years of college is preferred. Minimum two (2) years of purchasing and municipal experience is strongly preferred.

Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to a physical, drug screen, and background check.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Starting hourly pay is $27.91/hr, depending on experience and qualifications.
