Works with department staff on public relations, marketing campaigns, sponsorships, and program/event promotion for the Parks & Recreation Department. Independently creates and monitors video and social media content. Is responsible for video content creation, direct mail, digital, and e-marketing campaigns under the supervision of the Marketing Manager.

Plans, organizes, schedules, directs and/or leads video content creation for the Parks & Recreation Department including Miller Park Zoo, Bloomington Ice Center, SOAR, Aquatics, Parks, Forestry, City Golf Courses and Department and City-wide Special Events.
Networks with other professionals/organizations within the community to continue to build upon current sponsorship program.
Creates, distributes, and analyzes surveys to track engagement of participants for feedback of programs, classes, and events.
Develops marketing plans and develops/maintains social media content calendar schedules to ensure coverage for department programs, classes, and events.
Plans and organizes creative content for traditional advertisements, sponsorships and marketing efforts for the Recreation Program Guide, outdoor advertisements, direct mailings, and flyers.
Creates content, monitors, and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of content. Maintains departmental web pages, social media, and other online marketing materials.
Originates public relations pieces as well as converses with news media on departmental programs, classes, and events.
Conducts a variety of organizational and operational studies on current marketing trends. Recommends modifications to social media policies, procedures, platforms, and marketing strategies.
Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, advertising, English, communications, or a related field.
2 years’ related employment experience, including some sales or non-profit development experience.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.

Work is performed in office environment or at other agency sites. Work may require travel between work sites in town and frequently to other locations for meetings. Work will require occasional availability for events in the evenings and weekends.
