The City of Clarksburg, West Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for City Manager. Clarksburg operates under a council-manager form of government with a City Council consisting of seven members including a mayor. The city delivers a range of municipal services utilizing approximately 200 employees, providing full-time police, fire, sewer, public works, and parks services.
The City Manager oversees the daily operations of the local government, carries out the charter-assigned duties, oversees the enforcement of all laws and ordinances, appoints and manages Manager department heads, hires employees, and recommends and oversees the city’s annual budget (current fiscal year budget approximately $29 million).
• A bachelor’s degree in government/public/business administration or related field
• A minimum of five years’ experience in public administration at an executive level or similar corporate managerial experience
• Ability to effectively manage personnel
• Ability to effectively communicate with the city council and the public
• A proven background in:
– government finance
– economic development
– grants administration
– code enforcement
– strategic planning
Salary is negotiable, based on qualifications and prior experience, and includes all fringe benefits afforded to city employees including:
