Position Summary

Under the direction of the Fire Rescue Chief, this individual is responsible for developing and coordinating diverse administrative and support activities. Nature of the work performed requires a professional manner in all dealings with the public and City and department staff. Work requires the exercise of considerable judgment, initiative, and discretion.

Some essential job functions include:

Coordinating public education events including tours, presentations, annual open house, school evacuation drills, develop and revise public presentation packets and programs, and CPR classes.

Managing social media and website postings.

Providing support to emergency management training including incident action plans.

Providing support to the Fire Prevention Bureau including coordination with the Emergency Telephone System Board (ETSB), reporting, coordinating inspections, processing burn permits, and fulfilling FOIA requests.

General office support, including payroll entry

Position Requirements

The successful candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have proven technical skills in various software applications including Microsoft Office Suite. The candidate must also have outstanding organizational and time management skills, and be detail oriented with multi-tasking capabilities in a fast paced environment. Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to deal tactfully with the public and a high level of integrity in dealing with confidential and sensitive information is essential.

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of previous office clerical and customer service experience is highly desired. Starting hourly rate, $25.31 with a competitive benefit package. Hours are generally Monday-Friday 8:00AM – 5:00 PM.
