The City of DeKalb is looking to add a Public Works Maintenance employee to our team! The Public Works Maintenance position works in the Street Division and performs manual work including repair of street surfaces, culverts, storm sewers, etc. This role will also be involved in landscape maintenance, snowplowing, tree trimming, and leaf pickup.
We require a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to obtain a CDL within an agreed upon timeframe. This role is classified as an emergency response position and must be available for call outs and live within the residency map boundaries. Prior experience in street, water/sewer, or construction maintenance experience preferred. Prior snowplowing experience or a current CDL a plus, but willing to train the right person!
The starting payrate is $27.424 per hour. The current AFSCME 2026 Wage Schedule for the position is between $27.424 – $39.287 per hour. Please click here to view the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement, Wage Schedule, & Residency Requirements.
