Primary Purpose: Leads the management of the City’s Enjoy HP brand, crafting intuitive, captivating, and elegant content across our multimodal communications platform. In addition to ownership of the Enjoy HP brand, assists in global citywide marketing and communications as well as serve as the day-to-day touchpoint for marketing, planning, and coordination of City sponsored events such as, but not limited to: The Lot series of Events, National Night Out, Arbor Day, Memorial Day, and other Citywide seasonal events. Responsible for maintenance of Enjoy HP website, scriptwriting for video production and speeches related to City events, and event signage and coordinating banner programs in business districts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manages the production, updating, and ongoing monitoring of Enjoy Highland Park related communications including, but not limited to: The Weekender weekly enews, City social media accounts, print newsletters, press releases, and City websites. Leads the project management of City sponsored events, both individually and in conjunction with the City’s Business Development Division and contracted agencies. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: marketing, assisting with vendor management, coordinating event sponsorship, being present on-site as needed, and assisting in the coordination of related City services. Assists with scriptwriting for speeches related to City events and City video productions such as recruitment videos and PSAs. Produces marketing materials and copy for City sponsored events and programs. Develops the production design and overall layout for City branded advertisements, mailers, banners, products, brochures, etc. Manages banner program and sign board program in conjunction with contractor. Completes general administrative duties including, but not limited to: requisitions and invoicing. Performs other related duties as requested.

Education: Two-year Associate’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Marketing, Communications, Events Management, Public Relations, Political Science or a related field is strongly preferred.

Experience: At least three years marketing and/or communications experience strongly preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in event planning/management a plus.

Certification or License: A valid driver’s license or equivalent is required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Proficiencies: This position requires excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills as well as: The ability to effectively present ideas both orally and in writing, the ability to produce reports of a varying nature on a timely basis, skills in the operation of a computer and design software. The willingness to learn with an outgoing personality and the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with City officials, employees, and the general public.
