Marengo, IL – Code Compliance Inspector

The City of Marengo (pop. 7,637), located in southwest McHenry County, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Code Compliance Inspector. This is a full-time, hourly position. Starting range: $26.25- $33.44 per hour.

This full-time position is responsible for investigating and enforcing the municipal code, zoning regulations, and property maintenance standards to help protect the public health and safety while preserving and enhancing the appearance and quality of the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s degree.
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in code enforcement or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to enforce regulations with tact, professionalism, and sound judgment.
Familiarity with applicable codes and regulatory procedures.
