Marshalltown, IA – Finance Director

The City of Marshalltown, Iowa, (Pop. 27,500) http://marshalltown-ia.gov, located in the heart of Central Iowa, is accepting applications for an experienced Finance Director due to the retirement of the current Director after over 10 years of service. The Finance Director supervises a staff of four professional positions, directs and coordinates daily financial record keeping, ensures that accounting, budget and audit controls and systems are in compliance with State, Federal and local rules and regulations.  The overall City budget is 80 million dollars.  This individual supervises investment and cash management programs for the City.  They administer and manage Capital Financing (bonds leases and negotiated note issues), payroll and maintains official City documents.   Requirements include: thorough knowledge of fund and cash accounting, financial management and budgeting. The ideal candidate will have a degree in accounting, finance or business administration plus 6 years of extensive experience in public financial administration or any equivalent combination of experience or training which provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities. Salary range in $111,925 – 150,527 and excellent benefits.
