The McHenry Police Department announces that applications are being accepted for the Certified Police Lateral Program. The McHenry Police Department is seeking qualified, experienced Police Officers to join our agency and support our mission: To work in a true partnership with the citizens we serve, enhance the quality of life and provide excellence in public safety.
Starting Range: $67,789.18 – $83,592.26 (dependent on experience)
-10 Vacation Days after one year
-4 Personal Days
-12 Sick Days per year
-9.5 paid Holiday Days per year
-Health, Dental and Life Insurance
-All uniforms and equipment are provided
-Top Salary for Officers as of May 1, 2022 is $104,663.05

Interested candidates must meet all of the following requirements:
-Be a citizen of the United States of America
-Be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
-Possess a valid driver’s license and Social Security Card
-Have an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or have completed 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university, unless: the applicant has served for 36 months of honorable active duty in the United States Armed Forces and has not been discharged dishonorably or under circumstances other than honorable, or the applicant has served for 180 days of active duty in the United States Armed Forces in combat duty recognized by the Department of Defense and has not been discharged dishonorably or under circumstances other than honorable.
-Have been previously employed and certified as a full-time law enforcement officer within 12 months of application, either in the State of Illinois or in a state that the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board will approve a transfer for certification.
-Have been actively employed as a certified, full-time law enforcement officer for a minimum of 12 consecutive months with a single law enforcement agency.
