The Public Works Department is now accepting applications for Water Division Superintendent. This position plans, supervises, and directs operations related to the production and treatment of the City of McHenry’s potable water system. The Water Division Superintendent performs supervised and unsupervised tasks associated with the maintenance of the water treatment facilities, pumping equipment, and water distribution system as well as utility locates, and the operation, installation and reading of water meters. This position supervises all Water Division personnel and assists the Public Works Department and other City departments. The Water Division Superintendent reports to the Director of Public Works. This is a full-time, supervisory, FLSA exempt position.
Salary: $116,000.00 – $133,500.00 Annually
Wage is dependent on qualifications.
This position will remain open until filled.
Qualifications
- Must possess effective verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to accurately and thoroughly carry out functions requiring attention to detail.
- Ability to develop and exercise safe work habits and follow proper safety practices.
- Basic computer skills including skills in word processing and spread sheet programs.
- Organizational skills for supervising personnel and procedures at multiple locations.
- Be available to respond to emergency situations outside of normal business hours.
- Ability to communicate with the general public in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Ability to perform work in supervised and unsupervised environments.
- Maintain professionalism in stressful work environments and in communication with residents and people in general.
- A basic knowledge of the operation of pumps and associated treatment equipment for drinking water.
- The ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- Comply with all City policies and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- State of Illinois Class B Water License.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in water treatment and/or distribution.
- Prior experience in a supervisory or regulatory compliance role is preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Possession of a Class “B” CDL with air brakes or ability to obtain within six (6) months.
- Must maintain a good driving record.
- Pass all pre-employment tests and examinations.
