Job Description
The City of Naperville is currently looking for a Mapping Technician. The Mapping Technician designs projects using CAD and GIS programs based on information provided by Electrical and Fiber Engineers. This position updates GIS and CAD data based on field changes, supporting mapping and engineering sections.

Duties
Enters and maintains data in electronic files, including both CAD and GIS data.
Prepares engineering construction drawings for Electrical and Fiber work orders, as directed by Engineers. This includes 1-Line and Duct Bank maps.
Updates or creates CAD drawings to be included in Engineering Standards documents for Electric and Fiber equipment.
Reviews CAD files submitted by vendors, and updates as needed to meet departmental specifications.
Assists GIS Analyst in generating, plotting and distributing departmental hardcopy maps.
Performs data updates in GIS based on Electrical and Fiber work orders, and other mapping requests as needed. Maintains the quality and integrity of the department’s GIS network data.
May perform field inspections to resolve data discrepancies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:

High school diploma or equivalent
Specialized/formal training acquired through two to three years of college, technical school or business school.
Experience with AutoCad drafting.
Experience editing in ArcGIS in an ArcSDE versioned environment.
Experience with mapping electric utility data.
Minimum of one year of experience in a related field.
Valid Illinois State Driver’s License.
Preferred:

Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience mapping fiber utility data, as well as with ArcFM software
