Salary Range: $61,032.00 – $68,028.00 *

Join our team as a Maintenance Worker and play a key role in supporting the overall operations of the department and ensuring safe, well-maintained infrastructure throughout the community.  This position performs semi-skilled manual labor and operates heavy equipment to assist with street division work, road repairs, snow removal, and other essential Public Works operations.

Position Summary
This position performs semi-skilled manual labor and heavy equipment operation to assist with street division, road repairs, snow removal, and other division assignments. Assisting with overall department operations.

Essential Functions
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Primary laborer on projects.
• Performs general road maintenance and related activities including flagging traffic, mowing, temporary and permanent asphalt surface repairs, patching holes, sawing pavement, concrete repair and pouring, clearing brush and trees, vegetation control, sweeping, and removing dead animals and trash.
• Operates ladders and equipment at extreme heights during streetlight/tree issues/building repair.
• Safely operates heavy and light construction equipment, machinery, and tools for maintenance and construction related operations.
• Cleans, lubricates, and performs preventive maintenance or repair on equipment.
• Assists with snow removal operations.
• Inspects and maintains assigned equipment; maintains equipment in clean and operating manner.
• Reports to work for on-call after hours needs, as assigned.
• Proper use of PPE as recommended by manufacturer MSDS during the handling or use of chemicals or materials during operations to complete tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.

Secondary Functions
• Repair manholes/sewer/water lines.
• Assists with hydrant and valve maintenance and replacement.
• Repairs and replaces fire hydrants.
• Operates equipment during; the installation of water taps and water and sewer main repairs, the installation of water meters and repair of water meters, sewer line maintenance and repairs and assists in repairs, maintenance of storm sewer including ditching, culvert repair, replacements and catch basin rebuild, repair. • Operates appropriate equipment and performs cement finishing, catch basin, and manhole repairs.
• Operates equipment for the maintenance of turf and flower bed areas. Including but not limited to mowers, weed whip, blowers, aerators, chain saw, spray tanks etc.

Required Education, Experience, Licensing, and Certifications
• High School Diploma/equivalent.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License with Airbrake Endorsement or the ability to obtain within (1) year from date of hire.
• License and/or certifications required to perform job functions or the ability to obtain within (1) year from date of hire.

• This is considered a heavy-duty position which requires lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds, strenuous manual labor including, but not limited to digging, shoveling, sweeping, raking, hauling, crawling, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, and climbing;
• Duties are performed under all weather conditions and include exposure to inclement weather, noise, heavy traffic conditions, and exhaust fumes;
• Duties require ability to work at heights and in confined spaces;
• Operations are 24/7 therefore personnel shall be available/open to be scheduled to work all shifts including weekends; holidays as needed and some hours outside regularly scheduled time as well.
