This position works directly with homeowners, contractors and developers to facilitate projects, and plays a pivotal role in ensuring the adherence to engineering standards and municipal codes in the construction of both public infrastructure and private property development.

Key Responsibilities:
Plan Review: Conduct comprehensive engineering reviews of plans and specifications for public infrastructure and private property development projects, ensuring compliance with established standards.

Construction Oversight: Oversee and conduct field inspections for construction of public infrastructure and private property development projects, verifying adherence with approved plans, engineering documents and City codes.

Communication and Collaboration: Effectively communicate code requirements and findings to permit applicants, developers, and contractors. Foster positive relationships and ensure clear communication and documentation. Collaborate seamlessly with internal departments, external agencies, and stakeholders, to ensure a smooth process for plan reviews and on-site inspections.

Leadership and Development: Lead preconstruction meetings, showcasing your organizational and leadership skills to ensure successful project outcomes. Contribute to the development of new technical standards and updates to engineering-related City Code requirements, promoting innovation and excellence.

Qualifications:
 Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
 Five years of Civil Engineering or Construction Management experience, including experience with Public Infrastructure construction management and inspections.
 Professional Engineer license from the State of Illinois is preferred.
 Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.
 Strong multitasking abilities, enabling you to work independently and make decisions.
 Capability to perform light physical activities under diverse environmental conditions, with the ability to lift up to 35 pounds and handle 100 pounds of pull force from waist level.

What We Offer:
Salary range of $75,000 – $100,000, with starting pay commensurate with experience.
