This is a full-time, onsite Human Resources Generalist Consultant role based in the Providence, Rhode Island area, offered as a 6-month to 1-year contract through MGT, working with one of our valued clients.
The Human Resources Generalist Consultant provides flexible, project-based support to deliver responsive and effective HR services. This role is responsible for assisting with recruitment, labor relations, compliance, and general HR operations. The consultant partners with HR leadership and business units to ensure consistent application of HR policies and best practices while providing hands-on support for day-to-day HR activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support HR leadership in the administration of HR programs, policies, and processes related to employment, training, compensation, safety, and employee services.
  • Assist in preparing HR documents and reports including EEO-1, affirmative action plans, organizational charts, labor agreements, and employee handbooks.
  • Partner with hiring managers and HR leadership to support recruitment, including posting jobs, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and coordinating testing or logistics.
  • Leverage web-based technologies and recruiting platforms to source diverse candidate pipelines.
  • Coordinate and deliver new hire onboarding and orientations, ensuring compliance with I-9, benefits review, policies, and security/badging.
  • Maintain HR files and records, including confidential employee and medical files, ensuring compliance with federal and state labor laws (FLSA, ADA, FMLA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Provide general HR administrative support, including scheduling meetings, compiling HR reports, and managing invoices/POs with accounting.
  • Support special projects, events, and collective bargaining preparation as assigned.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of applicable employment laws, EEO, affirmative action, and labor relations.
  • Ensure confidentiality and discretion in all HR matters.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and present HR information effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS systems (UKG Ready preferred), and web-based recruiting platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must maintain security clearance, valid driver’s license, and insurability.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of HR generalist experience.
  • HR certification preferred (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP).
Work Environment
  • On-site support in a climate-controlled office setting.
  • Some local travel may be required for meetings or events.
