Salary: $66,950.00 Annually

Hours: Monday – Friday – 8:00a.m. – 4:30p.m.

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Code Enforcement Officer for the DuPage County Building and Zoning Department.

Responsibilities include:

  • Investigates zoning, building, and drainage complaints and inspects structures during various stages of construction for conformance with County ordinances and building and zoning codes
  • Contacts persons responsible for violations and issues notice to discontinue, remove or alter conditions which conflict with zoning, building, and drainage regulations.
  • Prepares investigative documentation, including photographs required to support findings
  • Maintains on-going surveillance of assigned area for zoning/code compliance
  • Represents the County in court and adjudication hearings regarding violation cases submitted for prosecution
  • Performs record search to determine accuracy of data such as location, ownership, district and legal description
  • Performs drainage and fill inspections
  • Inspects signs and fences for compliance with specifications
  • Issues vehicle violation notices and arranges for towing of vehicles
  • Prepares daily reports

 

Requirements include the following experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience:

  • Completion of a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma equivalent
  • Three (3) years’ experience in the fields of zoning, code enforcement, engineering, or related field
  • Must possess and maintain in good standing a valid Illinois driver’s license
