DuPage County

Salary: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 Annually

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Department: County Board Office

 

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work within the DuPage County Board Office as a Government Affairs Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

  • Builds and maintains relationships on behalf of the County Board and County Board Chair with local legislators, government officials, County department heads, lobbyists, and a variety of community groups
  • Tracks the actions of the General Assembly
  • Provides input and research material, assisting in the development of the County’s legislative agenda
  • Shares information and updates with and from County’s contract lobbyists
  • Assists in developing positions and communicating views including the preparation of speaking points for the Chair, County Board Members, and others
  • Reviews state statutes and legislation in order to update the Chair and relevant stakeholders
  • Responds to requests for information from the public, DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference and other external agencies
  • Composes memoranda, reports, resolutions and other written correspondence
  • Serves as a liaison and acts as the County’s representative on various intergovernmental committees at the direction of the County Board Chair
  • Assists in planning and executing events to promote the County Board legislative agenda and priorities
  • Executes research and special projects as directed
  • Establishes and maintains a professional work environment and represents the County and County Board Office in a professional manner

 

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE
Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration or a related field
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in government relations including experience with legislative processes at a State or Federal level
