Ferguson Township, PA (pop, 19,309) seeks a strategic and progressive leader for a newly created position of Human Resources Director.  The Human Resources Director will provide leadership, direction and guidance regarding personnel policies, employee hiring, recruitment and retention and benefits and compensation and assist with collective bargaining.  Ferguson Township is a community with approximately 75 full-time employees and a general fund budget of $16.1 million for 2023with all funds totaling $27.7million.   The Director will report to the Township Manger and will also have the support of a human resources generalist.
 
Ferguson is located adjacent to State College Borough, the home to Pennsylvania State University, in the beautiful Centre Region.  Ferguson Township is near the University Park Airport and is accessible by a major highway, Interstate 99.  The Township is one of six municipalities that voluntarily participates in the Centre Region Council of Governments (COG), the oldest COG in the Commonwealth that serves the region of over 90,000.

Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in personnel administration, labor studies, public administration, or a related field.
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in human resources, with at least three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred. 
  • Master’s degree is a plus.  
  • SHRM, PHR certification is also a plus.
  • Experience with collective bargaining is also a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented, and approachable management style.
 
Candidates will also be expected to be approachable and supportive, able to mentor, coach and motivate employees.  Candidates will need a thorough understanding of all facets of human resources and demonstrated track record of implementing best practices and innovative solutions.
 
The starting salary range is between $78,482 – $115,971 with comprehensive benefits.
