GovTemps USA is seeking qualified candidates to fill a short term, seasonal Building and Code Enforcement Inspector position (from May 1 to October 31) in the Community and Economic Development Department at the City of Des Plaines.
Successful candidates will be GovTemps employees contracted to the City. Preference will be given to qualified candidates who prefer a 37.5 hour/week schedule but candidates who otherwise favor a reduced work week are also welcome to apply.
Primary Duties: Conducting building inspections, permit review (primarily for small residential projects), and property maintenance inspections for nuisance grass, weeds and debris. Position works under the joint supervision of the Chief Building Official and Code Enforcement and Permitting Coordinator.
Position Requirements: Successful candidate will have knowledge and ability to comprehend select sections of the Zoning Ordinance and property maintenance and nuisance section of the City Code. Candidates must possess general computer skills and excellent customer service skills. Prior municipal work experience is a plus.
