GovTempsUSA is accepting resumes from qualified candidates for a part-time Accountant position with the City of Warrenville, IL. Selected candidate will be an employee of GovTempsUSA with services contracted to the City. The assignment is expected to be 15-20 hours per week for 6-12 months.
Performs a variety of complex accounting duties, including calculating, verifying, posting, and balancing financial transactions for various aspects of the City’s accounting system using standard government accounting principles.
Job Duties include, but not limited to:
Prepare and process journal entries and prepare monthly and periodic financial reports as needed.
Reconcile bank accounts, investment statements, and confirmations.
Administers revenue and expense entries prior to month-end close.
Verifies bank deposits; ensures all cash receipts are posted to the appropriate systems (GL, UB, AR, etc.)
Supports the Finance Director as needed on special projects.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Accounting or an equivalent degree with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting; at least five years of progressively responsible experience in municipal accounting; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience needed to perform the functions of the position.
Considerable knowledge of governmental accounting systems and procedures, including GASB pronouncements.
Experience with Harris/MSI financial software preferred.
- Local government experience preferred.
Compensation and Benefits: Expected hourly wage: $30-40/hour, DOQ. GovTemps benefits include employer matched IRA retirement plan and optional medical benefit plans.
