Lake Forest, IL (pop. 19,375) Beautiful, historic, and family-oriented community seeks candidates for its next Police Management Analyst.  Located 30 miles north of Chicago on the shore of Lake Michigan, Lake Forest is known for its stunning landscape, excellent schools, and a strong commitment to fiscal stewardship.  Lake Forest covers over 16.8 square miles and offers 800 acres of open space.
 
The Lake Forest Police Department has 40 sworn officers, 6 civilian employees, 11 part-time civilian employees, and a $13.5 million budget.  The City is known for its low crime rate and a friendly, approachable police department.  Most importantly, the Police Department has the steadfast support of the residents. 
 
The Police Management Analyst is appointed by the Chief of Police and reports to the Deputy Chief of Administration.  The position will assist in the administration, coordination, and implementation of various governmental functions and special programs/projects within the police department.  This position requires a person to be detail-oriented and able to follow through with complex assignments. The work includes basic and advanced project management, program research and data analysis, the assembly of factual information through research and study, writing reports, preparing documents and presentations.  This is a full-time, non-union, civilian position.
 
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree. Preference is given to degrees in Criminal Justice,
Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Public Administration, or closely related fields. Candidates 
must have two years or more of experience in data analysis, trend analysis, research methods, 
statistics, experience producing reports and presenting materials in a formal meeting 
environment required. Prior work experience in municipal, county or state law enforcement strongly preferred. The Chief will consider equivalent combination of experience and education, which provides the knowledge, abilities and skills required for the job.
