McHenry County, IL – Internal Audit Program Manager

The McHenry County Auditor’s department is looking for an experienced Intenal Audit Program Manager to be a part of their team.

Salary: $62,684 – $68,953 +/-

The Internal Audit Program Manager is primarily responsible for completing audit engagement assignments with minimal supervision from the audit team management. The Audit Manager is expected to understand risk and risk management techniques, identify and analyze business processes, key risks and critical controls, and evaluate control design adequacy; perform or supervise control testing; and document work performed in conformance with internal audit policies and procedures.

Job Functions

Audit Program and performing complex performance, compliance, forensic and internal control audits and investigations.
Conduct the Audit Department’s Annual Risk Assessment and Audit Plan.
Assist in the Review and follow-up on findings.
Promotes Fraud Prevention and Awareness through development and implementation of a countywide anti-fraud program and initiatives.
Assistance with establishing best practices on audit methodology and filing naming and folder management procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Preferred knowledge

Knowledge of Principles and practices of governmental accounting recommended.
Knowledge of conducting audits countywide
Knowledge of methods and techniques of research, statistical analysis and report presentation.
Knowledge of applicable state, federal, and local laws, rules, and regulations

Minimum Qualification Required

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree Accounting  Emphasis preferred.
3-7 years’ experience in financial and internal auditing.

Licenses and Certifications:

Certifications desired are: CPA, Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Fraud Examiner or other similar certifications.
Must have a valid Driver’s License.
