McHenry County Facilities Management Department is seeking a seasoned full time Maintenance Tech I worker. This position will perform skilled work involving the maintenance and repair of the County buildings and will work under general supervision, performing a variety of duties associated with building operations and maintenance.

This is a union position under Local 150. The hourly pay is non-negotiable.

This position will be open until filled.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs a variety of skilled general building maintenance duties to include: carpentry, plumbing, , office moves, snow removal, moving furniture and equipment repair.
Performs electrical work that may include installing lights, changing ballasts, and changing 120 volt outlets.
Conducts preventive maintenance schedule on equipment, performs visual inspections of equipment, maintain service and repair records.
Performs basic maintenance.
Performs basic plumbing repairs and maintenance.
Maintains parking lots to include: snow removal.
Repairs equipment at the County Jail facility to include: kitchen appliances, commodes, drains, doors, locks, lights and plumbing systems.
Able to successfully complete Criminal and Driving Background Check
Able to successfully pass a physical examination
This position also performs all types of painting work, including:
Preparing various surfaces for painting by washing, scraping, burning, sanding, sand blasting or other means as necessary.
Caulks, putties, cements or plasters holes and cracks.
Erects and uses ladders, scaffolding and swinging stage equipment.
Paints buildings, structures, equipment and furniture using brush, spray gun or other applicators.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED;
Must have knowledge of and two to three years of progressively responsible related experience with painting and general maintenance or, any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid State Driver’s License
