ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Summary
MHDC is seeking a full-time Housing Program Accounting Specialist for the Community Programs division. This role will coordinate and process the financials of the state and federal housing assistance funds. This position is responsible for the overall administration and accuracy of financial processes including payments to funded partners, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Essential Duties
· Assist with the creation and implementation of financial processes for all programs.
· Set up and maintain organization of program files, records, correspondence for the effective administration of applicable programs.
· Monitor applicant satisfaction and coordinate process changes as necessary.
· Monitor program spending and deadlines.
· Coordinate with department staff to determine and execute financial reporting schedules.
· Create relevant program financial forms and documents.
· Create and update financial training materials for funded partners.
· Assist with the preparation for and response to audit inquiries from state and federal partners.
· Contribute to the financial portion of the risk analysis process.
· Facilitate timely payment processes for all funded programs.
· Provide technical assistance to funded partners for program financials.
· Attend and actively participate in meetings and training programs as directed.
· Provide assistance to employees, vendors, state agencies, departments, divisions and organizations in a professional and efficient manner.
· Maintain and protect confidential information.
· Maintain a professional relationship with others by ensuring a sense of mutual trust, concern, respect and teamwork.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience Preferences
· A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
· A minimum of three (3) years of professional relevant experience in accounting or auditing.
· Experience working in government or non-profit sector is a plus.

· Individual must have the ability to effectively analyze and synthesize quantitative data and communicate results in a timely manner.
· Critical thinking and problem solving.
· Ability to operate well as part of a team or independently.
· Ability to utilize Microsoft Office proficiently, particularly Excel.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Attention to detail.
· Openness and adaptability to quickly changing workloads and deadlines.
