Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Oak Creek, WI (pop.  38,174). Located along the western shore of Lake Michigan, Oak Creek is in the midst of a development boom and is one of the fastest growing cities in southeastern Wisconsin. In two decades, the City’s population grew over 25 percent, and substantial growth is projected into the future. Adding vibrancy and a sense of place to the community, the City’s Drexel Town Square features a modern mixed-use development anchored by a civic center plaza, City Hall, and Library.

The City is seeking its first-time Director of Marketing and Public Relations with excellent written and verbal communications skills to plan, coordinate, and lead efforts that showcase Oak Creek’s reputation and brand within the community, in greater Milwaukee, and beyond. The Director will develop and implement a strategic marketing and communications program, manage communications and marketing staff, oversee media relationships and advertising, coordinate special projects, and generally oversee special events and community engagement strategies. 

Oak Creek is a full-service municipality including Police, Fire/EMS, Engineering, DPW (streets, parks and forestry), Water & Sewer, Community Development, Library, Recreation, Health, and Central Business & Financial Services. The City has more than 350 full-time and part-time employees and three unions. The Director of Marketing and Public Relations reports to the City Administrator and will initially have three full time and two part time staff. 

As a proven, innovative professional with strong verbal and written communications skills, the Director of Marketing and Public Relations will have a forward-thinking, creative, resourceful approach to communications, marketing, and overall community engagement. The successful candidate also will:

Candidates also should have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, journalism, communications, public relations, public or business administration, or a related field.
  • A Master’s Degree is preferred but not required. 
  • At least ten years of experience with increasingly responsible experience in marketing and public relations leadership in the public, private, or non-profit sectors.

The starting salary is $114,750 to $127,500 +/- DOQ.
