Job Title: Attorney
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
 
Position Overview
The Attorney will play a critical role in supporting the corporation’s daily legal operations. This position is fully on site and requires close collaboration as directed by the Senior Vice President of Legal and HR to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies. The Attorney will deliver practical, timely, and business-focused legal guidance that advances organizational objectives while safeguarding legal and regulatory integrity.
Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements, including Professional Services Agreements, Construction Contracts, and other commercial arrangements.
  • Provide thorough and actionable legal research, preparing clear and concise memoranda and recommendations tailored for non-legal audiences.
  • Support the Senior Vice President of Legal and HR in coordinating with outside legal counsel on litigation matters, including reviewing pleadings, drafting responses, and managing discovery requests.
  • Assist in the administration of insurance claims, including reporting, follow-up activities, and coordination with internal stakeholders and insurers.
  • Advise leadership and staff on legal risks, regulatory compliance, and best practices in contract management and corporate governance.
  • Support policy development and implementation to ensure alignment with federal, state, and local requirements as well as corporate standards.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in handling sensitive legal and corporate matters.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Rhode Island.
  • At least 5 years of relevant legal experience, with a demonstrated emphasis on contract review, drafting, and negotiation.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate legal matters, public sector requirements, and administrative processes.
  • Proven legal research, analysis, and writing skills with the ability to present complex issues in plain language.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Experience managing and coordinating with external counsel is preferred.
Preferred Background
  • Substantive experience in contract law with limited emphasis on litigation.
  • Prior experience advising or working within the public sector, municipal organizations, or quasi-public corporations.
  • Familiarity with procurement law, public contracting, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Salary and Selection Process: The pay for this contracted position is $105,000 annually, depending on experience. MGT employee benefits include up to a 5% match for 401(k) retirement plan, a comprehensive medical/health benefits package, and PTO/holiday pay.
