Ramsey County, MN (population 536,000) located in the seven county Twin Cities metro is the second most populous county in Minnesota and is home to the state capital  Ramsey County is an attractive and livable urban county rich with diversity and opportunity and home to more than 6500 acres of parks and recreational facilities across 15 parks, four golf courses, and 11 ice arenas offering a diverse four-season environment for either passive or active recreation. 

The Deputy Director of Internal Audit reports to the Chief Compliance & Ethics Officer (CCEO) and is responsible for leading and supervising internal audit functions; overseeing and directing operational, compliance, and special audits of the county’s processes; directing internal audit activity’s with the ability to conduct both assurance and consulting activities; providing strategic management to advance the county’s vision, mission and goals; and leading, supervising and managing daily operations. The Deputy Director of Internal Audit leads a team of three and will also work with multi-departmental teams and committees. This is a hybrid role working onsite two days per week. 

The County is organized into 4 service teams plus the Strategic Team and employs over 4200 FTEs and twenty-one collective bargaining units. The annual County budget for 2024 is approximately $810 million. Ramsey County has an AAA bond rating from both Standard and Poor’s and Moody’s. 

Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field. Preferred: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), master’s degree in business administration, Public Policy, or Public Administration. 
  • Six years of professional experience in government budget administration, financial administration, accounting administration, or public sector audit; at least three years of which must have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity. 
 
Ramsey County will consider a combination of education and experience that allows an individual to successfully perform the functions of the position.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for the position depending on qualification is $101,610 to $150,873 DOQ. The County provides a comprehensive benefits package including participating in the Minnesota Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) including the option of a partially remote schedule.
