Primary Duties:
  • Lead complex service-provider and data-center network projects from initial requirements and architecture through production deployment.
  • Design and document scalable network solutions, including detailed low-level designs.
  • Support VIP customer escalations and serve as part of the escalation rotation.
  • Manage project deliverables, milestones, priorities, and status with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate network designs, project status, risks, and incidents clearly to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Support scheduled evening or weekend cutovers and maintenance activities when required.
  • Contribute technical expertise through design reviews, knowledge sharing, and collaboration with the engineering team.

Essential Functions:
  • Design service-provider and data-center networks using eBGP, iBGP, IS-IS, VXLAN/EVPN, IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, Segment Routing, and VRFs.
  • Develop BGP policies using route reflectors, communities, local preference, MED, AS-path manipulation, and prefix filtering.
  • Design VXLAN/EVPN solutions incorporating L2VNI, L3VNI, symmetric IRB, ARP suppression, EVPN multihoming, and inter-VRF route leaking.
  • Develop IP-addressing strategies, BGP community policies, capacity plans, traffic-matrix analyses, and ECMP validation procedures.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Arista EOS and Juniper Junos platforms in mixed-vendor environments.
  • Design and support network security controls, including RPKI/ROA validation, BGP security, ACLs, CoPP, control-plane protection, and DDoS mitigation architecture.
  • Evaluate transceivers, DWDM and coherent optics, DOM/DDM data, structured fiber cabling, patch panels, and cable-plant documentation.
  • Validate all proposed changes in laboratory or staging environments before production deployment.
  • Prepare and execute test plans, cutover runbooks, rollback procedures, and practical change-management documentation.
  • Produce and maintain topology diagrams, low-level designs, post-deployment documentation, and post-incident root-cause analyses.
  • Maintain accurate project and technical documentation in Jira and Confluence.
  • Work with vendors and third-party providers to resolve complex technical issues and escalations.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Education Required:
  • Advanced knowledge of service-provider and data-center network architecture.
  • Expert-level understanding of BGP, IS-IS, VXLAN/EVPN, IPv6, MPLS, traffic engineering, and Segment Routing.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency with Arista 7000-series platforms, including the 7280, 7500, and 7800 series, and Arista Cloud Vision.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency with Juniper QFX, MX, and PTX platforms, including Junos troubleshooting and commit/rollback procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work interchangeably across Arista EOS and Juniper Junos environments.
  • Deep understanding of optical networking, fiber infrastructure, structured cabling, and physical-layer troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of RPKI/ROA, MANRS practices, route-hijack prevention, DDoS architecture, and network control-plane security.
  • Strong technical writing, documentation, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex network architecture and incident information into audience-appropriate language.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and changing priorities while working independently.
  • Education and certifications are not specifically required; demonstrated senior-level hands-on ability and equivalent professional experience are essential.
  • JNCIE-SP, JNCIP-DC, CCIE Routing and Switching/Service Provider, or Arista ACE-L3 certification is preferred.

Position Requirements:
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule and meet commitments during aggressive or time-sensitive delivery periods.
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend cutover or maintenance support.
  • Participation in an escalation rotation; this position is not the primary on-call role.
  • Ability to work remotely, with occasional onsite availability in Tampa, New York City, or Dallas considered a plus.
  • Strict commitment to laboratory and staging validation before production changes.
  • Experience developing test plans, change records, cutover procedures, and rollback plans.
  • Familiarity with automation and infrastructure tools such as Ansible, Python, Netmiko, NAPALM, pyEZNetBox, and CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
  • Familiarity with monitoring platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus, and LibreNMS is preferred.
  • Experience with Arista Cloud Vision, Juniper Apstra, or Juniper SRX is preferred.
  • Experience integrating network devices with SIEM and log-management platforms such as CrowdStrike, Splunk, Cribl, or Fluentd is preferred.
