Police Chief

The Town of Pembroke is seeking its next Police Chief. Pembroke is located along the beautiful Lumber River in Southeastern North Carolina, just over an hour from the coast and beaches of both North Carolina and South Carolina, two hours south of the state capital of Raleigh, and just seven miles from interstate 95. Pembroke is a mix of charming and modern, a growing community, and seat of the state-recognized Lumbee tribe of North Carolina in Robeson County.

The next Police Chief will lead, organize, and direct the police functions and supervise department staff including 15 sworn law enforcement officers and 4 telecommunicators; perform budget administration of an annual $585,000 annual budget; pursue state and federal grant opportunities; coordinate partnerships and mutual aid agreements with other agencies; plan for long-term department staff, training and equipment needs; assure department compliance with applicable laws, ordinances, regulations, and standards of good business practice in all department activities and endeavors; manage the recruitment and hiring of staff; and research and development recommendations for operational policies, plans and department practices.

The Town of Pembroke is seeking a law enforcement leader with cross-functional and progressively responsible law enforcement experience including patrol, administrative or command experience in a leadership role; or any combination of equivalent education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities of a law enforcement executive. Graduation from a nationally recognized police executive training program, and/or other advanced law enforcement executive training program is preferred.
