Antioch, IL – Part-Time Water Operator I

Overview:

The Village of Antioch is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Part-time Water Operator I. Under direct supervision of the Supervisor of Water Operations, this position performs entry-level work related to the operation, care, and maintenance of the Village’s water, sewer, and collection systems. Responsibilities include performing general maintenance of the water system, including checking pumps, wells, and collection systems; performing fire hydrant maintenance; checking lift stations on a weekly basis; reading water meters on a rotating basis; replacing, installing, and repairing water meters; assisting the Building Department with projects when required; repairing water main breaks when required; performing snow removal when required; and other related duties as assigned. This position performs routine tasks, ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools, and may work as part of a crew or independently. The position requires the ability to tolerate working in an environment that may contain dirt, dust, noise, unpleasant fumes/odors, vibration, poor lighting, confined spaces, allergens, wetness, humidity, extreme heat and/or cold. Qualifications:

Minimum of High School diploma or GED required. One (1) year of experience in water/sewer systems operation and maintenance or related field preferred. Knowledge of water/sewer equipment, lift stations, wells, and water/sewer systems preferred. Any equivalent combination of training and experience that produces the competencies desired for the position will be considered. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred. Ability to use applicable hand tools, machinery, and equipment related to the position, and ability to lift or move a minimum of 100 lbs required.

Salary & Benefits:

Starting pay for the position is is $22.44 to $26.39 per hour.  Full Salary range is $22.44 to $29.03
