The Village of Arlington Heights is accepting applications for the position of Public Service Officer at the Village of Arlington Heights Police Department. Village of Arlington Heights Public Service Officers play a crucial role in ensuring public safety, order, and positive community relations. In this position, the Public Service Officer will be assigned to the Arlington Real-Time Information Center (ARTIC). As an ARTIC Technician, the Public Service Officer will monitor surveillance, license plate readers, and other available systems in real-time to support law enforcement operations.

The Public Service Officer will be assigned to the afternoon shift (3 p.m. to 11 p.m.) and must be able to effectively communicate evolving information to field officers in real-time to assist in the delivery of services. The Public Service Officer will also provide back-up support to the front desk, including greeting visitors, assisting non-emergency callers over the phone, and performing detention cell inspections. In addition, the Public Service Officer may support with accurate record keeping and data entry, enforcing parking violations, assisting with controlling traffic, collecting money from commuter lot pay boxes, and other special projects, as assigned.

Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma, and one to three years of related experience. Prior experience in law enforcement and with law enforcement technologies, especially video surveillance systems, is preferred. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to multitask, work independently, and strong attention to detail.

The salary range for this position is $67,238-$90,770, with an anticipated hiring range of $67,238- $72,969, depending on qualifications and experience. This position includes a diverse and competitive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, paid vacation, and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension plan.
