The Village of Barrington Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for the part-time position of Records Assistant. This civilian role performs a wide variety of administrative, clerical, and technical tasks to support the Police Department and operations.
This position maintains official records, assists the public and departmental personnel, processes reports and citations, and supports court administrative procedures. Qualified candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum of two (2) years of clerical experience requiring recordkeeping and public contact, strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure and manage stressful situations, the ability to tactfully yet persuasively help enforce Village Ordinances and policies with the public, a Valid Illinois driver’s license, and proficiency with basic computer systems and Microsoft Office applications. An equivalent combination of related education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job successfully will be considered. Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly and more than 50 pounds occasionally.
The starting salary range is between $19 – $25 per hour, depending on qualifications. The schedule is 32 hours per week, Monday through Friday between 9:30AM and 4:30PM (with limited flexibility). Available benefits include minimum essential medical insurance, dental, vision, IMRF pension, deferred compensation plan, personal and holiday paid time off.
