The Village of Barrington Development Services Department is seeking a team-oriented individual for the full-time position of Project Manager/Engineering Inspector.
Reporting to the Village Engineer, this role provides complex and technical analysis, project supervision, and support for environmental, water, sewer, street, and other Engineering and Building Department projects and programs. In this role, you will also be responsible for ensuring technical competence and compliance with all current local, state and federal codes and ordinances.
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
· Managing the Village’s road construction and other capital projects to ensure contractor compliance with plans and specifications.
· Reconciling and coordinating accounts, bills, and pay estimates as received from the road and utility programs.
· Developing and maintaining replacement schedules for streets, utilities, and other infrastructure.
· Prepares list of streets to be resurfaced, rehabilitated or reconstructed.
· Assisting in the preparation of sanitary sewer, water, storm drainage, and street system maps, databases, and comprehensive plans, investigating areas where drainage and utility improvements are needed.
· Developing and maintaining lists of water, stormwater, and sanitary sewer mains in conjunction with road projects.
· Coordinating the preparation of engineering plans and specifications.
· Advertising, collecting, and reviewing bids, making sound recommendations based on select criteria.
· Investigating questions and complaints from public and resolving issues as necessary.
· Manages utility permit processing, review and issuance and serves as the Village liaison to private utility infrastructure projects. Assists with construction permit processing, review and inspections associated with certain of permits including but not limited to driveways, parking lots, drainage/detention, ADA compliance and other similar permit types as assigned.
Qualified candidates must possess: a minimum of three (3) years previous project management experience, a thorough knowledge of construction principles, practices and methods as applicable to a municipal setting, considerable knowledge of applicable municipal policies, laws, and regulations, the ability to read, understand and interpret plans and drawings as they apply to Village and private projects, an ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines and follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction, and a valid Illinois Drivers License. A Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering, construction, project management, or a closely related field from an accredited four-year college or university is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Outdoor work is required. Must be physically capable of moving about on construction work sites and under adverse field conditions and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds either with or without a reasonable accommodation.
