Public Works Maintenance Worker – Full Time

The Village of Barrington’s award-winning Public Works Department is seeking a team player to join our crew as a full-time Maintenance Worker.

Duties include a variety of maintenance and construction activities for the Streets, Utility, Water, Wastewater, Forestry, and Building and Grounds divisions.

Qualified candidates must be at least 18 years old, have a High School diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of two years of experience relating to construction, maintenance, or repair. Some understanding of wastewater treatment is preferred but any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.  A valid Illinois CDL license, Class B with an air break rider and tanker endorsement are required (or must be obtained within one year of employment). This role requires the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing using the English language.  Also required is the ability to work indoors and outdoors, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (frequently) and up to 100 pounds on occasion, and safely operate motor vehicles and power tools. The schedule is 40 hours per week.  Overtime will be mandatory.

The 2025 salary range is $60,686 – $81,142 when annualized, depending on qualifications.  Excellent benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, IMRF pension, deferred compensation plan, personal, vacation, sick and holiday paid time off.
