
Village of Bolingbrook
Under the immediate supervision of the Information Technology Manager, this position supports the enterprise network infrastructure across the Village of Bolingbrook, and maintains computing environment by identifying network requirements; installing upgrades; monitoring network performance. This position is part of the MAP 522 union.
Shift: Monday – Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, but may be extended due to unexpected workload, after hour patching / system updates, and unusual / unplanned deadlines while being available for limited on-call and after-hours support.

Salary: $87,523.64 – $103,048.21
Examples of Duties:
- Establish appropriate network connectivity of all servers, workstations, firewalls, telephony, and other network devices.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshooting problem areas as needed.
- Recommend, schedule, and perform security and network improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases.
- Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
- Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, firewalls, switches, UPSs, point to point wireless radios, on premise to cloud connections and other hardware.
- Keeps abreast of new network and security functionality, tools, and techniques.
- Planning, designing, and upgrading network installation projects.
- Establishing and maintaining backup, and version-control.
- Troubleshooting network architecture and making recommendations for system findings and enhancements.
- Making recommendations for leveraging network installations and reducing operational costs.
- Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
- Establishes network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
- Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
- Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Security, or related field.
- At least five (5) years of experience in the Information Technology field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the field of security administration, operations, and/or network management.
- Technical and practical expertise in Microsoft Windows OS, and Microsoft Office application suite.
- Project Management skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to diagnose and address application issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Reside in a community (or unincorporated areas) within the State of Illinois which falls within a thirty (30) miles radius of the intersection of Briarcliff Road and North Bolingbrook Drive (Route 53), within six (6) months of the date the probationary period ends.
