Elk Grove Village (population 33,127 with a daytime population near 100,000) is located in Cook and DuPage Counties adjacent to O’Hare International Airport. Elk Grove Village is home to the nation’s largest contiguous business park, with approximately 3,600 businesses calling the 5-square-mile park their home.

The Project Accountant provides a variety of administrative support services, including detailed research, identifying and analyzing statistical data, and developing recommendations. The position assists in establishing and monitoring budget items, account reconciliation, policy and procedures, and administrative activities.

The Finance Department is dedicated to providing residents and businesses with exceptional customer service and excellence in financial reporting. The Finance Department is responsible for the Village’s fiscal oversight and financial management. Specifically, this includes cash management and investments, risk management, budgeting, and debt administration.

Under the supervision of the Department Head and/or Designee, the Project Accountant will assist with various functions as required within the Finance Department.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Collects information and prepares schedules for the independent audit.
• Assist with the coordination and preparation of the annual Village budget.
• Assist with loss prevention practices.
• Assist with coordinating month-end, fiscal, and calendar year-end processes.
• Apply accounting and auditing principles to ensure data integrity, internal controls, and audit trails are maintained throughout all applications.
• Strive to identify, propose and implement process improvements to streamline procedures and ensure accuracy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience and Training:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or a closely related field, as well as three or more years of progressively responsible related experience, or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Proficiency in software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing is required (experience with Munis accounting software is a plus).

HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 Hours per week/Exempt

SALARY RANGE: $76,000.08 – $108,000.10 (DOQ)
