SOCIAL WORKER-POLICE DEPARTMENT
Elk Grove Village, Illinois (pop. 33,127), a strategically located, progressive community that is home to the largest consolidated business park in North America, is seeking dynamic, detail, and customer service-oriented candidates for the position of Social Worker. Elk Grove Village is located in Cook and DuPage Counties adjacent to O’Hare International Airport and is home to approximately 3,600 businesses located in its 5.4 square mile Business Park. The Social Worker or Professional Counselor position provides residents involved in a Police, Fire, or Health incident with diagnostic assessments, therapeutic counseling, crisis intervention services, and/or referrals to other resources and psycho-social service providers. The Social Worker also provides assistance to residents in need of community services.
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Social Worker’s key essential functions include, but are not limited to:
•Provides services to clients and their families, including therapy (individual, couple, family, and/or marital), crisis intervention services with referral to other appropriate service providers, and diagnostic evaluations with proper selection of treatment modality (including psychiatric hospitalization and referral to other service providers).
•Conducts initial interview of referrals, ascertaining the degree of intervention necessary.
•Works with Police Department Staff and other community service providers to ensure proper coordination of services.
•Assists with EGV Cares Program to refer clients for treatment of addiction issues with program partners.
•Provides victim services (domestic violence, sexual assault) and works as an advocate within the court system.
•Assists the Social Services Supervisor in various capacities as needed.
•Provides an exceptional level of customer service to promote and maintain a positive Village image for the Department by fostering pride, integrity, and professionalism in the workplace and community without compromising the ethics and responsibilities of the Department and the Village.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A master’s degree in Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, or a related field is required. A minimum of two (2) years of social work or counseling experience is required. Experience with direct client service, crisis intervention, trauma-informed short-term therapeutic interventions, and excellent assessment skills. A valid License as a Social Worker (LSW) or Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Illinois by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation is required. Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) or equivalent is preferred. Valid Illinois Driver’s License and a safe driving record. Must maintain CPR certification. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
SALARY RANGE: $67,925 to $93,000.18 HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week
